American Museum of Science & Energy Joins Smithsonian Magazine’s Tenth Annual Museum Day Live!

Smithsonian Day 2014

Free Admission for All Participants Presenting a Museum Day Live! Ticket on September 27, 2014

OAK RIDGE, TN (September 22, 2014) – The American Museum of Science & Energy will open its doors free of charge on Saturday, September 27, 2014, as part of the Smithsonian magazine’s tenth annual Museum Day Live! A nationwide event, Museum Day Live! offers free admission to visitors presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket at a participating museum or cultural institution.

Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian’s commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone one, giving museums across all 50 states the opportunity to emulate the admission policy of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. Last year’s event drew over 400,000 participants and this year’s event expects record-high participation.

“Our museum is an important and integral part of the community of Oak Ridge. This “Museum Day Live!” event provides the public with an opportunity to explore the rich perspectives in learning that all museums share with their publics,” said American Museum of Science & Energy’s director David Moore.

The American Museum of Science and Energy features permanent exhibitions on the Oak Ridge Story: WW II Manhattan Project Secret City, Exploration Station, Y-12 and National Defense, Earth’s Energy Resources, World of the Atom, and AMSE’s 1940’s flattop house with original furnishings.

The Museum Day Live! ticket is available to download Smithsonian.com/museumdaylive . Visitors who present the Museum Day Live! ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues for one day only. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.
