AMSE OFFERS SPRING BREAK PRICE BREAK

Get a Spring Break price break with $1.00 off admission per person, which does not apply to group rates, from March 15 – 23, at the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge.

AMSE chronicles the World War II Manhattan Project history that created the 1940’s Secret City of Oak Ridge and the science that emerged. AMSE visitors enjoy a fun learning environment through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations with audience participation, historic films and audiovisuals. Take home science and history related books, games, and apparel from AMSE’s Discovery Shop and continue to spark curiosity and fuel the imagination.

Now through April 20, AMSE showcases “Atomic Energy,” a vintage 1948 LIFE magazine panel and artifact exhibit, featuring constructive uses of nuclear energy and the need for international control. This exhibit is from the AMSE archives was donated in 2013 by the Samuel P. Hayes Research Library at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA.

Do the “Atom Smasher” live demonstration and receive a “hair raising” good time as visitors learn about static and dynamic electricity. View the permanent exhibits at AMSE including Oak Ridge history and the 1940s Flattop with original furnishings, brain buster puzzles, basic science experiments, fossil fuels and alternative energy activities. AMSE gets fun down to a science, when visitors get lost in the “Science Maze,” while discovering science tidbits from astronomy to zoology.

The American Museum of Science and Energy, located at 300 South Tulane Avenue in Oak Ridge, is open Monday – Saturday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
