  • NOW – AUGUST 31 
    “TEAM UP! Explore Science and Sports”
    traveling exhibition with 13 activity stations to challenge sport skills, while seeing how geometry, physics, force and friction work together in sports.  AMSE Second Level.

  • NOW– AUGUST 10 
    “NIKON’S SMALL WORLD”
    featuring 20 award winning photomicrographs.  View the art and science that combine in photos of various subjects as seen in detail through the microscope.  See the unseen.  AMSE Lobby.


  • NOW – JULY 30
    “ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION 1947 TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS OF EARLY OAK RIDGE .”
      See the original mapping of Oak Ridge, before the gates to the city opened on May 19, 1949.  These maps prepared for the USAEC under direction of the Chief Engineers, by the Army Map Service, War Department with aerial photography flown by the US Army Air Force.  AMSE Lobby

  • NOW – SEPTEMBER 5 
    “DOE FACILITIES PUBLIC BUS TOUR” with guide commentary
    .  Registration begins at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday in the AMSE lobby for U.S. citizens 10 years and up.  Bus departs at 12 noon and returns at 2:30 pm.  Off the bus stops include the Y-12 New Hope Visitor Center; the SNS and Graphite Reactor, both at Oak Ridge National Laboratory; and the K-25 Overlook.  Seating limited. First come, first serve.  Some restrictions apply.  There is no tour on government holidays (July 3 & 4, and Sept. 1).

  • AUGUSTt 4 – SEPTEMBER 7 
    “TATE’S REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT WINNERS”
    will be on display as  3rd – 5th grade students from Knox, Blount, Anderson and Sevier counties competed in the categories of Earth and Space Science, Life Science and Physical Science at the Tate’s Regional Science Fair on April 29, 2008.  Several of the winning projects will be displayed.  AMSE Lobby.

  • AUGUST 15 – NOVEMBER 2
    “PEDAL POWER: THE SCIENCE AND HISTORY OF BIKES”
    will include an 1870’s Penny Farthing, 1936 Elgin, a 50th Anniversary Schwinn Paramount, 1960’s Schwinn Typhoon and more.  The exhibit will also look at the science behind how bicycles operate.  AMSE Lobby

  • "Secret City Oak Ridge Driving Tour" Discover WWWII’s Secret City with the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau official Oak Ridge Driving Tour, now available from AMSE’s Discovery Shop.
    This newly revised driving tour, beginning and ending in front of the Oak Ridge Visitors Welcome Center and American Museum of Science & Energy, includes many notable stops such as historic Jackson Square, the International Friendship Bell, University of Tennessee Arboretum, and Oak Ridge Marina.
    The Oak Ridge Driving Tour kit is comprised of a colorful map and audio commentary on your choice of cassette or CD.
    CD's and cassette can be purchased for $12. If the cassette or CD is returned with receipt, the buyer will receive a $7 refund.

AMSE is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mon. - Sat.; 1 - 5 p.m. Sun.
Starting September 2005 - New Admission Rates:
Adults $5.00; Seniors (65+) $4.00; Children (6-17) $3.00 and children 5 and under free. Group Rates Available for 20 or more.
AMSE MEMBERSHIPS: Family $35, Grandparent $30 and Individual $25 for unlimited museum visits for 12 months from date of purchase, monthly member newsletter, special exhibition previews, discount in the Discovery Shop and on summer camps, and free admission to 285 museums that participate in the ASTC Passport Program.
AMSE is a member of the Smithsonian Institution Affiliation Program.
